Kodak EasyShare C360 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 8.13 (out of 10)
Leading the Kodak EasyShare Point and Shoot digital camera lineup is the spanking new 5.0-megapixel C360, one of a handful of lightweight and easy to use digital cameras that's readily available for less than USD$350. This 240g plastic body camera is small enough to slide comfortably into a jeans pocket with relative ease, but not quite slim enough for your shirt pocket though. The overall construct of the C360 feels great and its chrome trimmings and metal inserts blend well with its metallic silver paintjob. For those of you familiar with camera models from other brands, you might be quick to note the uncanny resemblance to the slightly 'rounder' Nikon COOLPIX 5900, but that's only as far as appearance is concerned.

Kodak's EasyShare digital cameras have consistently proved to be among the easiest to use of any I've tested, and the C360 is no exception. Its fully automatic exposure control handles a wide variety of conditions, and the range of preset exposure controls extend the camera's capabilities nicely for more difficult situations. The 5.0-megapixel CCD captures high resolution images, with plenty of detail to make good-looking 8x10 inch prints, and the 3x optical zoom provides some flexibility for portraits and close-up shots.

The Kodak EasyShare C360 offers point-and-shoot users a fully automatic camera without the confusion or hassle of complicated menu structures, printing set-ups, and manual controls. The EasyShare C360 comes with a 3x optical zoom lens and a 1/2.5-inch 5 MP CCD. The camera has a well-sized 2.0-inch LCD screen with 110,000 pixels and a real image optical zoom finder with zoom recognition.

Given the (just) sub £200 ($279 U.S.) price and more than adequate specification, not to mention you have 5 million pixels to play with, the C360 is not a bad little camera. Ideal for snaps rather than studied shots, the C360 is a nice model from Kodak, but it is at large in a world populated by many, many, equally as nice (or better) small, digital cameras. It is in for a fight...

With it's user-friendly appeal, ease of use and excellent performance and results this C360 is a great camera for the first-time digital user. More experienced users will find its limited range of options restricting, and the helpful messages get annoying after a while. Also it earns a big slap on the wrist for the lack of an off-switch for the digital zoom.
